Red Sail is the work of me, Stephen Cook, a freelance website designer and developer. The focus of Red Sail is to create high quality affordable websites for small business ventures. My personal experience of running small businesses, combined with over 25 years working in technical and management roles within the information technology sector, means that I am well positioned to understand client requirements and to deliver the right solutions. I take the time to work closely and collaboratively with each client to ensure a successful outcome. 
I am actively involved and fully committed to implementing the latest web standards, practices and techniques. In addition to my work with Red Sail I also engage in contract assignments. From a free of charge initial consultation through to project completion, Red Sail follows a structured process to ensure your website is successful.
The discovery phase begins with a free of charge initial consultation to learn about you and your venture and lay the foundation for a productive working relationship. Together we determine the purpose, target audience, message and content of your website. I then submit a quotation for your approval.
On acceptance of the quotation a site specification is prepared. This defines the website structure, navigation, page design and the text and images that will comprise site content. Once this specification has been finalised site development can be completed and the site fully tested. All websites are developed, validated and tested in accordance with industry standards and best practice.
Search engine optimisation (SEO) is a major consideration and impacts all stages of a project. SEO is a collection of techniques to make websites “search engine friendly” and so boost a website’s ranking in search results. However, the single most important factor in SEO and achieving a high page ranking is well-written and keyword rich content.
